Fall is an amazing leaf changing season. Over our Kebler Pass is the largest Aspen Grove in the United States, which lights up in flaming yellows, oranges, and reds when the leaves change color in the fall.
Winter is literally a winter wonderland with so much to do in addition to alpine skiing. We have a lot of back country ski trails, cross country ski, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing. They call Crested Butte the Last Authentic Sky Town. Our town is full of historic buildings that date back t o the mining days alongside beautiful new mountain architecture.
Summer is a full blown celebration of life! People ride their bikes everywhere. The mountains are exploding with color from the wild flowers and all of the bloom, and there’s a never ending list of fun adventures, including fishing, hiking, rafting, climbing, biking, camping, wildlife watching.
There is a private airport in Crested Butte, and a private landing strip in Gunnison. The easiest most direct is to fly into Gunnison airport, which is about 30 minutes away.
You can also fly into Montrose which is about 1 ½ hours away, and many people fly into Denver for the best fares and then rent a car and take the most beautiful and scenic 4-hour drive in.
There are plenty of vacation rentals on both VRBO and AirBNB. We have charming hotels like The Nordic Inn, Old Town Inn, or Elk Mountain Lodge, or, swankier spots like The Elevation Hotel or Public House Lofts.
