No one could have predicted what has happened in our market. We know that it is due to low mortgage rates. We know that once people were forced to work from home it gave us all the chance to really think about what we want in life, where we want to live, and how. And A LOT of people figured out that where they want to be is here, in the mountains, living a healthy and simpler life. If you were to sell, the question is , where would you go? And the other questions that we hear from buyers literally every day are; when will there be more inventory, when do you think the prices will come down, how long will the low mortgage rates continue?
These are all unanswerable questions. But what I can tell you is that the land grab in Crested Butte is now in high gear due to a very low inventory condition for existing homes. Spec builders have entered the market place, building permit issues are at an all time high and tradesmen are gearing up for a busy 2021. Those who are smart will buy land now and build their dream home. Don’t wait to realize your Crested Butte dream.

I hope that you are all on board to have a stellar year after such a crazy 2020. In taking time to reflect, there were so many challenges last year, COVID, economics, not being able to see family or travel, and some suffered even tougher losses. For that my heart goes out to all. But, there were really good bits too.
The pandemic taught us to slow down, appreciate the little things, and spend time with our children and in nature as we haven’t allowed ourselves to in the past. The world goes soo fast, and it has been good for the soul and our planet to stop, take your time and reflect. I am sending the best to you and your families for this new chapter in all of our lives.
